7 Transformations That Occur When We Embrace Christ
“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, behold, the new has come!” – 2 Corinthians 5:17
When an individual embraces faith in Christ, there are discernible changes that manifest in their life. While perfection isn’t expected, there’s a noticeable difference in their character, signaling a connection with Christ.
It’s crucial to grasp that being saved isn’t contingent on works. Christianity isn’t about refraining from cursing, smoking, or road rage, attending church, or donating to charity.
Every individual falls short of God’s glory and sins, but through Christ, forgiveness is granted. A Christian is someone who seeks salvation through Christ to be absolved of their sins. (Romans 3:23-26)
These transformations may vary in their visibility among different Christians, as each person undergoes spiritual growth at their own pace. Nonetheless, those who follow Christ will eventually:
- Love Christ
“We love because he first loved us.” (1 John 4:19)
- Abhor Sin
“Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.” (Romans 12:9)
- Engage in Prayer
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)
- Study and Apply Biblical Teachings
“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” (James 1:22)
- Turn Away from Fleshly Desires
“The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, debauchery, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and the like.” (Galatians 5:19-21)
- Exhibit the Fruits of the Spirit
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” (Galatians 5:22-23)
- Live by Faith
“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20)
