The Air Ambulance for Rescuers is a helicopter specially designed to transport patients; injured or sick, to the required higher-level facility (Hospital) from those areas which are not easily accessible by roads. The hilly areas; where direct approach through roads is badly affected due to any incident. As the same happed in the recent incident of Murree where rescuers provided their search and rescue services.
The Punjab Emergency Service Department (PESD) Helped Stranded Vehicles and victims in Snow. Coordinates Efforts were made from PESD Murree and neighboring districts under the Supervision of Senior Command. The Director-General Dr. Rizwan Naseer supervised this huge incident till the evacuation of the last victim and clearance of all hazards.
Local Rescuers even provided Stay to the Tourists at their own Houses if Rescue Stations were far away from places having potential hazards. Maximum people moved out from vehicles on announcements from Rescue 1122 officials. Only two first aid was provided to 25 victims by Medical Technicians of Rescue 1122, 5 serious patients including one delivery patient were shifted on foot to the hospital. As the traffic movement was jammed and stocked.
So, Hilly places have limited facilities including health and road infrastructure services especially Murree and other Norther Areas. In case of any incident, it is not an easy task for responding ambulance or emergency service to respond on time. This all is necessitating the need for fast medical assistance in the form of the air ambulance which can be used in disasters.
It is worth mentioning that during managing the incident of Murre Rescue 1122 focusses only on the operational activities and remained silent on all platforms till the completion of operations. It means the officials focused on the works, not on the showcase of the work. This is the key to the excellent performance of this department has limited resources. The people on Twitter also highlighted this point by saying Rescue 1122 has no active social medial cell.
