The Punjab Emergency Service Department, commonly known as Rescue 1122 Punjab, is an emergency service department. The department provides various services, including medical, wildland firefighting, etc. Moreover, this department has a specialized team-Disaster Response Force (DRF), certified by United Nations INSARAG. The recent wildland fire in Balochistan– A province of Pakistan, is still out of control. The specially designed and trained team- DRF, has been dispatched from the Headquarters of the Department. The team is well-trained in command of competent officers of respective cores.
The developments to control the fire
The government of Pakistan is trying its best to control this large-scale wildland fire. According to some resources, some international Aid regarding controlling this fire has arrived in Pakistan upon its request to Iran. The authorities are in full swing to control this wildfire. This Wildland Fire is resulting in many causalities resulting due to this fire.
Does Rescue 1122 have sufficient resources?
For effective firefighting, the availability of the required tools and equipment is the key factor. If the deploying force does have the required resources- Wildland fire gear, Wildland tools, and Wildland pants, then its deployment will result in fruitful ways. Otherwise, the time will prove this initiative a waste of resources. The eruption is in hilly areas or mountains which don’t have access to vehicles. Now the question is how a wildland fire engine shall approach to control this fire.
However, the professionalism, performance, and dedication of Rescue 1122 towards their duties are always exemplary for the remaining authorities.
Today the Director General Punjab Emergency Service- Dr. Rizwan Nasir, directed the special team- DRF, to respond to the incident with full strength. The Director-General, the commandant of this team, gave important directions before their departure. According to some officials, they have the required resources and, above all, the competency to manage available resources that already exist there. Let us all hope for the best as this neglected wildland fire incident will result in disastrous social, economic, and environmental effects.
